Instruction Manual MakerPrivacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026. This policy explains what Tread Enterprises Ltd., trading as Instruction Manual Maker ("we", "us"), collects when you use Instruction Manual Maker and this website, and why. The short version: your manuals and models never leave your computer, and we collect only what is needed to run your account and take payment.
What stays on your computer
The desktop application keeps everything you make on your own PC or on a network folder you choose: CAD models, images, templates, bills of materials and manuals, in a local database and a local file library. None of it is sent to us. The application connects to the internet only to sign in, to check your subscription, to start a trial and to download updates.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, your name if you give it, and a password you choose. These are stored by our licensing provider, Keygen, on our behalf; passwords are stored only as secure hashes.
- Activation records. An identifier for each computer the application runs on (derived from a Windows machine identifier and not reversible), the computer's name, the application version, and the times it checks in. This enforces the two-computer limit and the one-trial-per-computer rule.
- Subscription and payment details. Payments are taken by our merchant of record, Paddle, which collects your billing name, address, country and payment details and is the controller of that data under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, subscription status and the Paddle subscription identifier, not your card details.
- Emails. We send transactional email (set your password, welcome, trial reminders) through Resend, which records delivery status.
- Website and service logs. Our website and licensing service run on Cloudflare, which logs requests (IP address, browser, pages fetched) for security and operation. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and the website sets no tracking cookies.
- Support. Anything you send us by email, so we can answer.
Why we use it
To provide the Software and your account, to enforce the licence terms, to take payment and issue receipts, to send the emails needed to use the service, to answer support requests, and to protect the service against abuse. We do not sell personal information and do not send marketing email without your consent.
Who we share it with
Only the providers named above, each processing data on our behalf or as merchant of record: Paddle (payments and tax), Keygen (accounts and licences), Resend (email), Cloudflare (hosting). Each is bound by its own terms and security commitments. We may also disclose information where the law requires.
Where it is kept and for how long
Our providers store data in the United States and the European Union. Account and activation records are kept while your account exists and for up to two years after your last subscription or trial ends, then deleted. Payment records are kept by Paddle for as long as tax law requires. Service logs are kept for a short period, typically under 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, at support@instructionmanualmaker.com. Deleting your account ends your ability to sign in; it does not touch the manuals on your own computer. Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada and other jurisdictions with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide, including to complain to a supervisory authority.
Security
Connections to our services use TLS. Passwords are hashed by our licensing provider. Activation data on your computer is encrypted with your Windows account's protection. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.
Children
The Software is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here and, for account holders, sent by email.
